The Secretariat of the Albania Investment Council participated in a meeting organised by the European Union Delegation in Tirana, as part of the visit of the COELA Group of the Council of the European Union. The meeting brought together representatives from all 27 EU Member States and relevant European institutions.
Discussions highlighted several of Albania’s competitive advantages, including political stability, low local tax levels, a strategic geographic location, mineral resources, and the availability of a skilled workforce with proficiency in foreign languages. At the same time, participants noted that labour costs are no longer at the same levels as in the past and that emigration is becoming a growing challenge for businesses.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to review progress, particularly in the digitalisation of public services, and to address ongoing challenges, with a special focus on the rule of law, including property rights, land registration reforms, and the length of judicial procedure.
