ADVANTAGES AND CHALLENGES OF THE FISCALIZATION PROCESS – DISCUSSION WITH THE BUSINESS

The new fiscalization process started implementation on 1 January 2021, and besides the numerous advantages it brings, businesses are expected to face some challenges during the first phase of implementation. In view of this, the Secretariat of the Investment Council, in cooperation with the General Tax Directorate organized a technical discussion with representatives of the private sector. The objective of this meeting was to clarify the initial business issues through a direct dialogue between the tax administration and business representatives — where a large number of questions received an answer.
TECHNICAL DISCUSSION: TIME TO QUICKLY REACT AND ACCELERATE BUSINESS INNOVATION PROCESS

The Secretariat of Albania Investment Council, in collaboration with INNVEST, organized a focus group meeting to discuss at the technical level main business challenges to access innovation. During this meeting, the participants emphasized the need for prioritization of the innovation agenda and current challenges from a business perspective, the need for a mechanism to coordinate all the actors and serve as a focal point for the consultation and dissemination of the right information. It was highlighted the need to accelerate the setup of sustainable cooperation between the public institutions, universities and the business, as well as to promote the collaboration of the business with the regional institutions.
INVESTMENT COUNCIL DISCUSSES ABOUT THE SPEED OF THE REFORMS IN INNOVATION IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Investment Council (IC) held a virtual plenary meeting, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Ms Anila Denaj, to discuss main challenges and recommendations to foster innovation in entrepreneurship, with a focus on the governance of the ecosystem, cooperation in the context of the “quadruple helix”, access to finance, and how to incentivize digital economy. Acknowledging the challenges faced, especially by the SMEs, the participants raised concrete recommendations regarding the speeding up of actions toward consolidation of the innovation ecosystem, increasing access to finance, building and empowering the ecosystem with equity and investments mechanisms through business angels, venture capital and equity funds

ABOUT ALBANIA INVESTMENT COUNCIL
Investment Council is a platform set up by the Albanian authorities with support from the EBRD to intensify the dialogue between the government and the private sector, improve the business climate and promote good governance. The work of the Council is supported by a Secretariat, an independent body of professionals selected and contracted by the EBRD to directly engage with the business community. Investment Council is supported by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, EBRD and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
