Secretariat discusses investment climate with a delegation of EU business associations

On Tuesday, September 27th, the Secretariat of Investment Council hosted a meeting with a group of around 20 European Associations, as part of the study visit on “Economic governance and rule of law – enhancing a conducive business environment and opportunities”, organized in Albania during 26-28 September 2016 by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR).
The European Associations participating in this study visit provided services to European businesses in networking, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, such as EUREKA, European Small Business Alliance, European Basic Skills Network, Women Entrepreneurship Platform, Association of Balkan Chambers, European Corporate Governance Institute, European Integration & Regional Competitiveness Fund, and European Vocational training Association, South East European Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning, and Association of Institutes for Vocational Training.
The topic of discussion was the current investment climate issues in Albania, investment opportunities and key economic sectors. After a brief presentation by the Head of the Secretariat, Ms. Diana Leka, on the Investment Council & Secretariat platform, as well as on the progress in investment climate in Albania, members of the delegation had the opportunity to ask questions related to specific business concerns, main competitive sectors and potentials for investments in Albania.
During the meeting, the experts of the Secretariat provided feedback on issues raised, related to current investment incentives, regulations and laws in place such as the Law on Strategic Investments, which reduces the bureaucratic barriers for strategic sectors and investors. Other questions were related to the opportunity of labor market and available skills and current training instruments in the Albanian market. Other question was related regarding any ready-to-invest or feasibility projects to attract investors in the country.
